SUBMITTING ARTICLES
We are always on the lookout for articles that will be of interest to those who live in the Village and the surrounding community. Generally, we give preference to items of interest that pertain directly to Hook itself but will usually consider other material of a more peripheral nature if we think it may be of interest to the readership. If you wish to submit an article to Focus, the preferred method of submission is by email, to this address by 6.00pm at the latest on the deadline date. Articles received after this deadline will not be accepted for that month's issue. NB: Early copy submissions ahead of the deadline date are always gratefully received and very much appreciated.
When emailing your articles, note that we prefer them to be in Microsoft Word format where possible. Any images or artwork that you include with your article and wish to be considered for publication should be in either .tif or .jpeg format. PLEASE NOTE that any pictures of minors MUST be accompanied by parental permission in the form of a hard copy written letter or preferably by using our parental consent form which can be downloaded from HERE. This form can be returned as hard copy to one of our editors or via email providing the form contains an authentic signature, i.e., a scan of the signed form. ALL parental permission slips for pictures of minors MUST be received by the 6.00pm on the deadline date or we will not be able to use them.
When submitting articles by email, to help us avoid errors (and yes, make our lives easier!), please ensure any file attachments include the name of your organisation in its file name. This helps us to avoid the situation where we receive numerous but less than unique files ALL bearing the same names; for example, multiples of “June Focus.doc” or “November Focus.doc” from different sources are received every month!
Again, PLEASE ENSURE that your article reaches us by the deadline date and time; if it is received after the deadline your article will not be included. The latest deadline dates can be found HERE.
